This free online platform is dedicated to raising the visibility of the ocean and showcasing why the ocean matters in climate negotiations and to all life on our planet. It aims to democratize the ocean at COPs and promote unity and inclusivity, whilst increasing knowledge, commitment, and action for the ocean-climate nexus at key events during the UN Climate Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan from 6 – 22 November 2024. It is also a key tool in increasing transparency and equitable access to climate discussions and information.

Key Messages and Roundtables
Key messages emanating from the COP29 Presidency, High-Level Climate Change Champions, Ocean Breakthroughs and other Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action (MPGCA) initiatives, the 2024 Ocean and Climate Change Dialogue, and UN Ocean Conference 2025 will be formulated and promoted through the Virtual Ocean Pavilion. Communications Inc and collaborating partners in the OneOcean Flotilla will be leading the crafting of these messages, which will be the focus of live events and roundtables.
Roundtable discussions will be held during the live days where ideas on how to promote the key messages and address other ocean-climate-biodiversity themes will be equally exchanged by participants. Please contact the Virtual Ocean Pavilion team (Miriam Balgos, Thecla Keizer, and Catie Mitchell) if you would like to learn more about the roundtables or get involved.
Gateway to COP29 Ocean Events
We invite you to register your COP29 ocean-related events in the Ocean Events Tracker. Information gathered through the tracker will be incorporated into a calendar of ocean events accessible through the Virtual Ocean Pavilion.
